Facebook and Pornography seem like polar opposites. Yet there are some parallels that exist between them that are either purely coincidental, or show that these may be tools being used to craft a bigger story.
I was doing some research a while ago. An article from GQ titled “10 Reasons Why You Should Quit Watching Porn” which spoke of exactly what it is titled, mentioned the NoFap Community, which is committed to abstaining from porn and masturbation. And because of this community, researchers have had open doors into better understanding the effects of porn in our lives.
Here are some points from the article:
- For those addicted to porn, arousal actually declined with the same mate. Those who regularly found different mates were able to continue their arousal. It’s known as the Coolidge Effect, or a tendency toward novelty-seeking behavior. Porn, after all, trains the viewer to expect constant newness.
- Almost 50 percent of those on NoFap have never had sex in their lives, meaning their only experience with intimacy is purely digital.
- 53 percent of the NoFappers had developed a regular porn habit between the ages of 12 and 14. An alarming 16 percent said they started watching before they were 12.
Why do I mention these??
There is a large connection between what is happening in society. There is not a decentralized happening of things. Facebook is hooking you on the digital, Pornography is hooking you on the digital. There is collaboration from a higher power (I would say Satan) steering the world towards valuing digital interaction as opposed to physical interaction. They are in effect preparing humanity for isolation.
Some **parallels between pornography and Facebook**
[Point 1 for context]
Pornography: is making it difficult to find the same human being pleasing, you can “have” a different person each time, at the same time (with multiple tabs open.)
Facebook: is saying you don’t have to be connected to only the people you can see. You can speak to a different person each time, at the same time.
[Point 2 for context]
Pornography: is saying you don’t have to have the person there for a real connection.
Facebook: is saying you can be “connected” to all your friends, even if they are all far away.
Both Facebook and pornography are devaluing the necessity of the person’s physical presence.
[Point 3 for context]
Pornography: is snatching little boys away at such a young age.
Facebook: lets you sign up at age 13.
[Bonus parallel || Context: filter bubble ted talk]
Pornography: allows you to experience whatever fantasy you want. Sleeping with your mom? Rape scenes? Sex with animals? You can have it just how you like it, and as many times as you like it.
Facebook: allows you to have a “social” experience catered to your exact taste. Liberal and feminist chatter? Justin Bieber 24/7? You can have it just how you like it, and as many times as you like it.
Google: allows you to receive search results made just for you. Your flight details in your search results? Knowing where you parked your car? You can have it just how you like it, and as many times as you like it.
Facebook and pornography both promote short-term thinking
Facebook would have you do anything to receive likes (which release dopamine.)
Pornography would have you do (and see) anything in order to reach orgasm (which release dopamine).
What now?
In light of all these points, by the time someone is aged 30, just imagine how differently wired their brain will be. Besides the impulsive behavior that can develop from people being easily able to have things their own way, and live a life catered to them. It is safe to assume that a notion is being developed in the lives of many on the internet that “they are the god, and life revolves around them.”
Like the filter bubble, the people they see on Facebook affirm them. Facebook, Instagram, Google, Pornography with prolonged use fulfill and will fulfill 2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”
Last thought
- After committing to no masturbation/porn, 60 percent of those on NoFap felt that their sexual functions had improved.
- And 67 percent had an increase in energy levels as well as productivity.
Those two last points from the GQ article show that there is hope.
And in light of all that I have mentioned. Maybe I am completely crazy or mislead drawing conclusions that don’t exist. Or there is an organised syndicate that is leading people astray. (GQ article link: https://www.gq.com/story/10-reasons-why-you-should-quit-watching-porn)
