God is working to make you inherently holy.

Throughout your life you will come across at least one of these variants:
- I don’t have a wife, so I’m going to watch porn.
- I don’t have money, so I’m going to steal.
- This person doesn’t like me, so I’m going to lie so that they like me.
There will be tension in your life because of a disconnect in your life between what you have, and what you want.
Mainstream Christianity, and pastors, and all these people will tell you things such as “Don’t watch porn, it will ruin your marriage.” “Cultivate good habits, and faithfulness before you get married”, and things of the sort.
Before I continue, I want to say that I 100% agree with what they are saying, but I think they are missing something important.
All of these things they say hinge on marriage, not on God. If the motivator for me to not watch porn is that i don’t want to ruin my marriage, then what if i don’t get married. Will I not feel betrayed by God if after 20 years of a porn free life, I am on my deathbed with no wife by my side?
God is in it for far more than superficial holiness. Scripture says “Be holy for I am holy”. That is what God is working in us. Holiness. To be Holy for He is Holy.
Not to be holy because we want something, but rather to be holy because that is an appropriate expression of our love for God.
To not watch porn, not because we want to have a great marriage, but because we want to please God.
To cultivate good habits, not so that we can serve our wife well, but so that we can serve everyone well wherever we are.
To love what is good. To love what is righteous. Because that is what matters. That’s what is appropriate.
Not to try love what is good because we don’t want the bad if we fail.
God is working to make you inherently holy. To be Holy for He is Holy, not just for a spouse or otherwise.
